Recently few of the cows at our Goshala in ISKCON Bangalore, HBR Layout , Sri Narsimha Giridhari Mandir are suffering from a disease called Foot and mouth disease or hoof-and-mouth disease. It is an infectious and sometimes fatal viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals, including domestic and wild bovids. The virus causes a high fever for two or three days, followed by blisters inside the mouth and on the feet that may rupture and cause lameness. The disease is characterized by high fever that declines rapidly after two or three days, blisters inside the mouth that lead to excessive secretion of stringy or foamy saliva and to drooling, and blisters on the feet that may rupture and cause lameness.

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) has severe implications for animal farming, since it is highly infectious and can be spread by infected animals through aerosols, through contact with contaminated farming equipment, vehicles, clothing or feed, and by domestic and wild predators. Its containment demands considerable efforts in vaccination, strict monitoring, trade restrictions and quarantines, and occasionally the elimination of animals.

Our devotees at Goshala are very busy since last 4 to 5 days caring for these cows.Among these infected cows, One Cow named Ganga is seriously infected. She is having blisters inside her mouth and her feet. The doctors are coming daily giving her medecine and treatment. The other healthy cows are also prone to be infected slowly. All the devotees want that Ganga gets well soon and are praying for her and other infected cow’s recovery. The Vedic scriptures declare that cows are very dear to Supreme Lord Krishna and if they are taken care nicely Krishna is pleased. So we are also trying to take care of the cows and serve mother cow. So we request all to pray to the Supreme Lord who is lover of cows and brahmanas for the quick recovery of the affected cows.
We request all the kind hearted lovers of mother cow to help this noble cause. For contribution kindly visit Donate Page.

Read the sad news that Ganga could not survive. May God keep her soul in peace and may she get a human birth devoted to the Lord.

Praying sincerely for all the other cows to recover. May God protect them at all times.
